LAKE ATITLáN

Guatemala is a country of soaring volcanic peaks, subtropical forests and biologically diverse ecosystems. Lake Atitlán, elevated in the Guatemalan Highlands, is noted as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world hosting extensive coffee and avocado orchards and a variety of farm crops, most notably corn and onions. Mayan traditions influence the culture in the area, famous for its traditional weaving and textile craft. Anzan comprises three residencies dotted across the hill known as ‘Pasajcap’ situated midway between the villages of San Marcos la Laguna and Tzununá.

There are a number of small villages situated around the lake which offer different perspectives of the lake view, guests will be taken on a private tour to San Juan la Laguna, Jaibalito and Santiago Atitlán, exploring weaving, natural fabric dyeing processes, coffee plantations, an unmissable boat tour of the lake’s history, the local fishing practices and a local school supported by Ecolibri Foundation. In free time, guests are welcome to swim and kayak, explore the surrounding villages and learn more about local Mayan culture and traditions.

Antigua

Time slows as you pass through the ancient churches and ruins into the cobbled streets of the old city of Antigua sitting beneath the active Fuego Volcano. Stop in the Chocolate museum and taste the local cacao, walk through the town to the main square and explore the local organic farm, coffee shops, restaurants and market. Antigua is the former capital city of Guatemala, approximately 2.5 hours drive from Lake Atitlán and 45 minutes drive to Guatemala City.
